Welcome

Eyota Volunteer Ambulance Service welcomes you to our web site. Within this site you will find links to pages about us, our mission, history, educational offerings and tools for crew members to actively participate in the service (calendars, scheduling, minutes, agenda and events).

We strive to ensure our communities and the people visiting or passing through are cared for with respect, integrity, and above all, compassion.

Check back often, and consider adding us to your favorite links. We will post new content regularly and help keep you informed about Emergency Response and how you can help protect those around you.

EMS WEEK May 20-26th, 2012

National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's "front line."

Your hometown Eyota Volunteer Ambulance service works hard to provide the help you need when you need it the most. We don't do this because it's convenient or easy. We do this because it's the right thing to do and because we care.

The  Number to Teach

your Children is  .....9-1-1

April was Know 9-1-1 month.  Please take a few minutes to show a child how to dial 9-1-1, and when it is appropriate to call.

Pager Grants  continue in the works

In 2012 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is requiring all emergency response services to use Narrow band technologies. That means 25 of our 30 pagers are going to be obsolete. At a cost of around $600 each  (Just over $15,000 total expense), this is a budget eater, especially as we are working so hard at getting funding toward a new facility.  We have submitted a grant to SE EMS ( and were awarded $2000...Thank you!), as well as a grant to Operation Round Up from People Cooperative Power).

We just received $1000 from the Rochester MN Walmart- THANK YOU!

We are also writting grants for several other organizations to try to make this happen.   As a non-profit, all volunteer service, with a joint-powers board, we run a tight, efficient operation.  Our goal is to provide state of the art care, high quality education and service to our communities.  Together we make a difference.

Can you guess what it should cost annually to have a local ambulance service?

For an ambulance service of our size and coverage area according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics it should cost...$ 448,782 a year to operate a local ambulance service

     That's $70,000 for vehicle + Equipment   and  $ 378,782.00 for Staffing each year ( 24 hours a day)

What it actually costs us to run our local ambulance service because of our incredible volunteers, budgeting, fundraising and Board oversight....

$60,000 a year to operate our Eyota Volunteer Ambulance Service, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

So in reality, our ambulance service saves the communities over $380,000 a year by having a local volunteer ambulance service.

Help spread the good news. Your Volunteer Ambulance Service saves you money, provides outstanding service, and is there when you need them the most. Now tell me that is a deal you can't pass up!

 AMBULANCE FACILITY RENDITION

The proposed new facility has a multipurpose/meeting room, double bay garage, offices, crew quarters, kitchen, decontamination station, and paved parking.  We are working together with the Townships and Cities to ensure an active, sustainable ambulance service for years to come.

Having this all volunteer ambulance service saves the community over $380,000 a year. Please help support this worthy project. Access to emergency care at a local level saves lives, improves health, and builds a strong community.

Donations are welcome and appreciated. We are close to our goal.  Contact our business office at 507-545-2868 to contribute or help.
